Introduction
The Wayfinding App is a service discovery and appointment booking tool designed to connect prisoners, particularly prisoners on short stays, with the community services they need upon release.
The system has two distinct interfaces:
The Prisons Interface
Section titled “The Prisons Interface”This interface is used by Prisons and Community Corrections Staff. It provides a simple, five-step workflow for use together with prisoners. This interface:
- Collects basic demographic information to match the client with relevant services
- Displays filtered lists of community service providers that match the client’s circumstances
- Allows staff to select contact information listings and book appointment slots on the client’s behalf
- Produces a printed summary the client can take with them on release
The ‘Provider Interface’
Section titled “The ‘Provider Interface’”The Provider Interface provides a dashboard for use by service providers and Wayfinding App administrators.
Service Providers
Section titled “Service Providers”The Provider Interface allows service provider staff to manage their organisation’s presence in the system. Using this interface, providers can:
- keep their contact details up to date
- create and manage Information Listings and Booking Listings (TODO: link to listing descriptions).
These listings are used to share service information and available booking times with people preparing for release from prison.
Administrators
Section titled “Administrators”The Provider Interface also serves as a management interface used by administrators and service provider staff. It allows authorised users to:
- Create new Service Provider entries
- Manage user access to the system
- Control which users have access to manage providers
- Manage system-wide settings such as service categories and user accounts
Access to the dashboard requires a login. What you can see and do in the dashboard depends on your role.
Data & Privacy
Section titled “Data & Privacy”The system is operated on behalf of the Centre for Social Impact at Flinders University and in collaboration with the Department of Corrections South Australia. Client data collected during prison sessions is used for service matching and research purposes. Names are only recorded if a booking is made, and are deleted afterwards. All sessions are end-to-end encrypted.
